My test, quiz, or practice is "unavailable."

This could happen for several reasons:

• The time frame for that activity has not yet started, or it has expired (see below)
  
  
• The item is "locked" until you perform a previous required item. Some examples are:
  
  
  • Lecture Pre-Test 1 is locked until you comptete the Student Understanding quiz at WebCT
    
    
  • Lecture tests are locked until you complet the corresponding Pre-Test
    
    
  • Lecture practice exams are locked until you take your first attempt of the previous test leading up that exam

HOWEVER, if the above examples do not apply it COULD be an error in the WebCT settings. So let me know right away so I can investigate, OK?

 

Didn't complete your test before the time frame (dates of availability) expired

Sorry.   You are simply in a pickle.  

To prevent this from happening to you —please complete at least one attempt early in the time frame (just IN CASE something unplanned occurs).

Well, OK, there is a way to get out of this pickle:

Free Parking!

Look in My Grades in WebCT and you'll find the "free parking" item. 

It will show the numeral 1 or 0.  If it shows 1, then you've not yet used your free bonus deadline extension. See below for how to use your free parking pass to extend the deadline.  If it shows 0, then you've already used your free parking pass and should have learned your lesson by now!  You really are out of luck!

 

Using your free parking pass

To use your free parking pass to extend a deadline, you must do the following (be careful, I won't honor requests that don't square up with these rules):

• make your request before final exams begin (and in time to finish the online test/quiz before the final exams begin)

  • this means that Free Parking will NOT be granted during exam week!

• Make your request by way of the WebCT email system
  
  
  • It is important that you send your request AFTER the deadline has expired (not before)
    
    
• State your full NAME, the COURSE name, and the TEST/QUIZ number and title to be extended

What if I have requested Free Parking for a test, but the extra time given to me has also expired?

• You can have the instructor extend your Free Parking further (but not into exam week) by emailing a request to do so

Free Parking does not apply to BIO 095 tests/exams because they are all open-ended
